Green fields, black basalt | Near Palouse, Washington, USA |
The Palouse, a region of big rolling hills covered with wheat, lentil or canola fields, stradles the border between the states of Idaho and Washington. The 2 main towns, both with a University, are Moscow (Idaho) and Pullman (Washington) separated by only 8 miles. The Palouse hills are cut by deep spectacular canyons in black basalts (for example that of the Snake river) sometimes enhanced by giant white water falls. The villages are quaint with colorfull old barns and houses, just like it was in the 50' maybe, unspoiled, rural and quaint. |

Nemorino Sun Jul 15, 2007 09:48 UTC Since you had a conference discount I suppose you were there for a conference? If so, what about? Sounds like a fine location for an *undisturbed* conference, actually. | tini58de Thu Mar 22, 2007 18:34 UTC What a beautifully done page on a fairly remote but yet so interesting region of the US! Thanks so much for introducing it to us! | GuthrieColin Wed Sep 20, 2006 06:22 UTC Great Page, I can't believe you found good things to do out here in the Palouse | mtncorg Thu Sep 14, 2006 03:57 UTC 'Updated'? Did you actually go back to Moscow, like their football coach? |
