Haifa - Israel's third largest city and northern capital is the heart of it all! Situated in a broad natural bay between the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and the Carmel mountain, the city's terraced landscape offers a rich variety of breathtaking panoramas. To the northeast, across the waters of the harbor sits the medieval walled fortress city of Acre. Directly north, if the weather is good, beckon the heights of Rosh Hanikra, the white cliff, checkpoint on the Israel - Lebanon border. Further east towers the snow capped peak of Mount Hermon. Theaters, museums, cinemas, elegant hotels, air-conditioned shopping malls, great beaches. Haifa has it all.
Above is a little about the city but what I really want to write about is the Baha'i Shrine and Gardens and that you will find in my travelogue for Haifa.
For one year, many years ago, I lived in a kibbutz 40 minutes away from Haifa, and in the evenings we could see the lights of the city, and that was a lovely sight. |
