The World is my Oyster

by Sisi03 - last update: May 23, 2003

Petronas Twin Towers by night

Kuala Lumpur - my home

I live in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, and home to the tallest building in the world the Petronas Twin Towers.

It is a beautiful and peaceful city...a true melting pot of cultures (Malay, Chinese and Indian). You are sure to experience the modern and traditional.

If you come to Malaysia, you would experience some of the best food! Malaysians love to eat, and I'm no exception.
China - Hangzhou - Xi Hu (West Lake)

Love of Travel

I've travelled quite a bit in Asia...some on business and some on leisure. I've been to some lovely destinations...let me share with you a little taste of Asia.

China is my favourite destination for historic attractions. From the famous Great Wall of China close to Beijing....to all the small obscure temples that have stood for centuries. It is amazing travelling to the Chinese hinterland...the vastness and way of life.

My picture of Xi Hu (West Lake) in Hangzhou is one of my favourites. This was taken on a clear morning when the mist has just lifted. The lake it is said to have been formed by an asteriod a long time ago. Don't forget to try some Long Jing green tea here, it a specialty of the region.
Vietnam - Halong bay

Around South East Asia

Vietnam is a really interesting destination. I love it for the wonderful handicraft which is really affordable!

This is a picture of Halong Bay in North Vietnam. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, best seen by boat. The seafood is really, really fresh...straight from the bay to your plate.
North Korea - a monument of the People's struggle

The undiscovered...

Among my most treasured travel experiences was a trip to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). Not many people venture to this corner of the earth.

Although I was on a business trip this time around, it was a real experience. It was like stepping into a time warp into the 1960s. The people, the buildings.
Rome - an Obelisk in Piazza Navona

Europe...here I come!

I am planning a trip to London and Spain in July 2003. I'm really looking forward to all the shopping to be done during this time!! And of course the food...mmmnn tapas :-)

So far I have the pleasure of travelling to beautiful Rome and scenic Geneva. This picture is another of my favourites and is of Piazza Navona in Rome. I love the fact that one can wander around the city of Rome and at every corner there is an amazing example of architecture.

Europe is a whole different experience to Asia in the culture and the wonderful buildings and art. Even the colour of the sky! I love the clear blue on a warm summer's day.
Ponte Vecchio, Florence - Shopping for Jewellery!

A bit about me

I'm really fortunate to have the opportunity to travel in my job and deal with alot of cultures. You never really get to understand people until you visit their country and feel first hand their way of life.

I enjoy (aside from travelling) shopping! My major weakness is handbags and shoes.

I'm also a big Madonna fan. I hope that I will get to attend one of her concerts before she goes into retirement!

I hope you have enjoyed my homepage. Cheers!
