The two main forms of public transport around Cebu City are metered Taxis & PUJ`s commonly called Jeepneys.

1 Taxis are the safest way around Cebu City but there are things you need to do & know to ensure your safety.A common thing is a driver refusing to turn the meter on.Don`t accept his excuse(he will have one)just get out & get the next one.

2 Jeepneys are the cheapest way around Cebu City but are a haven for snatchers & petty criminals.Unless you are with a local I wouldn`t attempt to ride one for the above reason & also the fact they all ply different routes so unless you know where you are going it`s very easy to end up nowhere near you wanted to be.

Unique Suggestions: Taxis....I stick to well kept clean taxis, if possible I stay away from taxis that are older,damaged panels, If it looks untidy outside there`s a very big chance the inside will be the same.Every taxis licence number is easily visible both in & out of it so if you feel the need, write it down.Try if possible to stick to the major taxis like Holiday or Max`s to name a couple(sometimes that`s not possible but keep in mind).

Jeepneys....If you must ride these keep your cell phone in your pocket,jewellery to minimum,don`t flash any cash & watch for pickpockets sliding up close to you.Especially be aware around traffic lights when the jeepney is at a stop.The thiefs are not alway recognizable so have your wits about you at all times.I know principle takes over but if you are a victim just give them what they want. Murders are known to have happened.
