Octopus Garden: For Sushi specialists
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Octopus Garden

Octopus Garden offers Sushi, Pacific and Continental Cuisine in a very nice and relaxed atmosphere. We preferred to sit at the long sushi bar and watch hand rolls, sashimi and sushi prepared for us.

Prices range from $4 for individual sushi items to $41 for a Sashimi Combination, with Pacific Rim selections from $15 and up.

Favorite Dish: Ahi tuna steak which comes covered with Dijon mustard and dipped in sesame seeds

Cafe Sevilla: Spanish tapas and flamenco music

I went with a large group of Spaniards so the place looked like if I was in Madrid!! We had a light dinner with tapas, cheeses and beers. Nice place with flamenco music and a couple of decent guitar players. Club below is more latin than Spanish.

Trattoria Mare Monti: My italian pick

Very nice and busy italian restaurant in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. Very recommendable. The dishes were prepared genuinely the Italian way and I bet the cheff is, in fact, an italian. Eat outside and enjoy some people watching.

Favorite Dish: Carpaccio Di Bue: thinly sliced raw beef, arugola, capers, shaved parmesan, mushrooms and celery. Then Penne
with tomato sauce, cream, prosciutto, peas, and parmesan cheese.

    5ifth QUARTER: Skip this one

We may have had bad luck but service was definitely poor here. We arrived starving for lunch but the waiter found out that he had lost our order after 1 hour and 15 minutes.... The paper with the order was sitting on the floor under the table. There were only 3 tables taken so the distraction was difficult to explain. We decided to leave and the waiter wanted us to pay for the soft drinks....
