What's up with Prague? It became a hot tourist destination lately and, indeed, I found it packed during my visit. Compliments like "the most beautiful city in the world" are usually heard and repeated by people that didn't even visit it. This increased my expectation before the trip. Yes, it is a beautiful city but the former statement is a bit exaggerated in my opinion.
Prague is one of Europe's best preserved cities as it escaped the bombings of the World Wars. Its history, architecture and traditions are now blending with the western fresh air after 40 years of comunist domination. Results are mixed, Prague is becoming more modern, more fun but too touristy. Old Town square, the heart of the city, looked a bit spoiled by boards, signs and an abundance of souvernir vendors.
Still, Prague was a highlight in my Central Europe trip which also included Berlin, Vienna (what a city!!), Bratislava and Budapest.
Located in the western region of Bohemia, the river Vltava runs through the city. Today, the population reaches over 1 million residents.

| | Art and Architecture Prague is a paradise for the photographer. Everywhere you look there is a piece of art or architecture that is worth taking a picture. |

| | Art and the Vltava river The Charles bridge is, in my opinion, the best single spot in Prague. Here you combine the beauty of the city, the river and so many pieces of art. It's also a fun place with its entertainers, painters and tourists. |
