" GIBRALTAR ROCKS!!! " Gibraltar by Frisbeeace

After we arrived from our tour toTangier we decided to make a short visit to Gibraltar despite the negative comments I had received about spending time there. It turned out to be an interesting short visit during which I enjoyed the driving while approaching the Rock, walking along the main street with its British flavor and finally having dinner at the main square.

Gibraltar is a self-governing British Crown Colony. The Rock is a large promontory which marks the position of the narrow Strait of Gibraltar which separates Europe from Africa and provides the only link between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

The 5km-long rock contains 143 caves, over 48km of road and miles of tunnels. Gibraltar has given its name to the Bay and the Straits which it overlooks.

The town of Gibraltar is an 18th century British Regency town built on a 15th century Spanish town which was, in turn, built on a 12th century Moorish town.
