I had thought of going to Nice for a number of years but had never managed to get round to booking a flight and going there. Thankfully, this changed in 2006. Orginally I had gone there at the end of February hoping to enjoy some late winter sun and escape the dark British winter, but as I found out that the city and the Cote d' Azur was so beautiful I returned in September for a late summers holiday.

The weather during the February break was fantastic just what I had hoped for, clear sunny skies, which allowed plenty of journies along the coast, but the Mistral was strong and cold, so no early sunbathing and plenty of layers of clothes!

The February break coincided with the Nice Carnival and the parade of decorated carnival floats and costumes on Shrove Tuesday. We managed to get tickets for seats in the grandstand along on the parade route.

I love this city there is plenty to do and with a great and inexpensive transport network it is easy to explore along the Cote d'Azur.
