Provincia de Buenos Aires

I never thought I'd see the day I travelled to South America and that day finally came. Totally not expecting a language and culture shock, I went ahead and packed my bags. I was on route to Buenos Aires via Cape Town and while on the plane my mind kept telling me not to worry. But what kept playing over and over was the fact that I should have bought a travel guide before taking this trip.

On arriving at the airport and being a stranger to this Spanish speaking land, I got on to the hotel bus which brought me straight into the heart of Bueones Aires. The bus driver was friendly, even though he spoke very little English, he tried to explain his country. I think I must have only understood 15% of what he was babbling about. He said something about pollution and an over-crowded city.

On reaching the Hotel (Crown Plaza Panamericano Hotel), I was greeted by a very friendly doorman. The hotel was located on the main street in the busiest part of Buenos Aires.

One of the biggest cities in the world

Buenos Aires

Located by Rio de la Plata, the widest estuary in the world, Buenos Aires is the capital of the tango and the football, of the gaucho and the ?asado?. In the city that never sleeps, there is time and space for everyone.

Buenos Aires is one of the largest cities in the world, counting a total of eleven million inhabitants in both the city and its surroundings.

This cosmopolitan city is very diverse, easily changing from the narrow streets to the widest avenues. To catch the spirit of the city, it is necessary to walk along the streets in the downtown, to take a coffee in a sidewalk cafe or to visit the residential neighborhoods, where the old buildings alternate with the most modern constructions.

This is a city with plenty of typical restaurants of all the regions of the country as well as excellent international cuisine.

Did not understand a word

Had problemo's but thank god for pictures. I had it easy getting food and some other stuff. I remember going to watch a movie there...oh wow, the size of the cinema alone gave me a shock. It could fit in at least 500+ people and the best part was it was all dubbed in Spanish hehe. I had to read the subtitles. Well, cinemas in my country seem to be getting smaller and smaller with technology, so no offence to anyone who still has big cinemas in their towns.

Well, at least it was an interesting experience even though I hardly understood anything on the screen.
