A little about New Zealand

New Zealand Flag
I am a New Zealander, I was born in the city of Hamilton in the Waikato (Why cat toe) district in the North Island.

Hamilton is home to approximately 110,000 people and is home to the Waikato provincial Rugby team. It is a lush area where many farms can be found. My own Grandparents own a Sheep farm not far from Hamilton in the King Country district just out of Te Kuiti (tee - que-it-ee) which is 78 kilometres away, (not far really, well by NZ standards!).

Hamilton is also home to the Waikato University and to the Waikato river. This river is the longest of it's kind and is 425 kilometres long.

I am proud to be a "Kiwi" , it is a lovely part of the world. I may sound bias because it is my own country but it really does have a lot of wonderful qualties about it. Just recently New Zealand reached the 4 million mark in it's population, it is still reasonably small but not overpopulated and I think that is the way some people like it.

The first man to climb Mt Everest comes from here (Sir Edmund Hillary) and we produce some of the world's best diary products. Our infamous Kiwifruit (Chinese Gooseberry) has become popular with many people worldwide and we are the first country in the world to see the sun rise each day.

Having travelled quite a bit throughout my own country, I really must say it certainly is a beautiful place. I know this may sound biast but it truly is and I hope to take some photographs of how lovely this place really is very soon ( I have just got back from the Middle East).

New Zealand would be a fine place to visit one day. Our daughter spent a year there during her undergraduate studies.
