Puerto Escondido Hotel Tips by Marie-France

I was actually surprised to get such a nice and large room (with air conditionning) in such a pretty hotel with a great pool for less than $30 US.

Later I read in my guidebook that my room should have been at least $50 US! It looks like I got a special promotion of some sort. Mind you, while I was there, service seemed to be at a minimum. The front desk was almost always deserted, the restaurant was closed, and I saw very few guests. Low season? At the end of January? Your guess is as good as mine.

I had the pool all to myself for an entire morning. The only disturbance was a loud rooster that would come on around 5 am and go on all morning!

Unique Qualities: Beautiful pool set in the middle of a courtyard surrounded by plants, flowers and statues.

Nice views (toward Playa Principal) from the upper balconies.

Directions: Go west on Perez Gasga past Hotel Nayar and turn right after the Banamex.

Hotel Nayar is just a few minutes from the beach, and has a view to the beach from some of the rooms and the restaurant.

A single room cost me $35 including air conditioning and a simple breakfast. There is also a pool and small patio with chairs.

Apparently the higher rooms are nicer than the lower ones. But even my lower room was quite large and had a lot of light (but not much of a view).
