| Bled's little island and church |
I entered Slovenia from the North (coming from Munich by train) and the first town I stopped in was Bled.
From the train station I could see the lake and island, and everything looked just as peaceful and serene as I had imagined.
Little caveat: the train station is quite a long way from town. There wasn't any sign or information desk at the station, so I started making my way on foot toward the lake, following the little gravel path that begins across the street. It's at least 3 kms to the youth hostel (Penzion Bledec), assuming you don't take a wrong turn.
I think it would be easier to arrive by bus as the bus station is very close to everything.
Bled is worth at least a couple of days. The air is clean, the ground is clean, people are friendly, the scenery is beautiful. |

Ciao! | shrimp56 Sun Jan 15, 2006 19:38 UTC Such a nice page:) You really give me a feeling for a place I'd like to visit. | Kaspian Fri Oct 21, 2005 17:31 UTC That Church of St Catherine photo is one of the coolest pics I've seen on VT, the kremna rezina looks soooo good (like a "Napoleon"?), and I would've told the gondola guy where to go and swam out to that island! |
