"Oaxaca most magical" Estado de Oaxaca by chauncenetta
Estado de Oaxaca Travel Guide: 1,012 reviews and 2,175 photos
If you really want to see Mexico, go to Oaxaca. It is a phantasmagorical delight with a marvelous mixture of Mayan heritage, Mexican political history (Benito Juarez is from there), Catholic church structures, food like nowhere on earth (famous for their cheese, mescal & chocolate), gracious and beautiful people, wonderful music, magnificant archeological sites (Monte Alban) and so much more. Spend time in the Zocalo and enjoy the natural performance art 24/7. Every evening was something different from the Gazebo .... ballet, theater, music ... it never stops and unfolds in the most wonderful unassuming way. Be brave and eat fried grasshoppers, but no matter what, they still taste like bugs, even with guacamole. Buy cotton candy as big as your pillow from adorable children for five pesos. Enjoy the art deco accoutrements in the bars and restaurants. Drink the beer,it's the best in the world. Admire and purchase their famous Black Pottery. Go to the small villages outside of town on market day. Go in December, celebrate the Day of the Radishes. Admire & love a country that has a holiday for radishes. Christmas is the special time, with unending surprises and festivities.
