"Ahmed" Diyarbakir by chauncenetta

Diyarbakir Travel Guide: 100 reviews and 153 photos

A special city, encircled by huge black basalt stone walls, beautifully lit at night, a comforting presence. The soul of Kurds abounds. Speak Kurmanji and hear the smiles.

Diyarbakir if it were music would be rock and roll.
It's a city with an undercurrent of excitement that you can't quite put your finger on.
It seems poised on the edge, of something I don't know what, and in the end it will all be good.

Visit the Kurdish Cultural Center. Against great odds and at great risk they work to maintain their language and music, to achieve peace and stability, to create with their artistic visions and sincere pursuit of happiness.
