Just pelagic!

This is the place to come if you want to see big ocean-roaming marine life (pelagics). The dive season generally runs from March through October. The resort is closed for the remainder of the year during the monsoon season.

What will you see? The hammerheads cruise through on their migration, but mainly at the beginning of the dive season (although they can very occasionally be spotted at other times). Manta ray sightings are fairly frequent, if you are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. There are schools of tuna, huge schooling swirls of big-eye trevallies, and a rainbow spectrum of reef fishes.

In addition, there are the corals, which are virtually untouched by human activity, and in addition did not suffer the big die-off and coral bleaching that the Maldivian and Australian tropical reefs experienced recently. Perhaps the most impressive are the gorgonians, which dwarf divers wth their gigantic lattice-like fans.

Sponges are abundant, too, in all hues and myriad types. The barrel sponges are so large that a diver could stand up in one and remain unseen from the side. Considering the advanced age this kind of sponge growth indicates, the barrel sponges demonstrate just how perfect this reef is.

Equipment: If you have your own gear, bring it. The resort rents gear for those who don't own any or who don't care to carry it.
