Why I'm back to the UK for good

It's December and freezing here, but of course I like cold weather. If you'd been born and brought up in tropical Vietnam, where the lowest temperature is 28 degree Celsius, you'd probably be the same.

I'd been living in Vietnam for 23 years, with occasional travel to Asia and Europe, before leaving for the UK for my postgraduate degree at Southampton University. I felt in love with the country and although after finishing my study I came back to Vietnam for more than a year, I miss UK and Europe so much I decided to return, this time for good.

I live in North London and work in marketing and e-commerce.

Despite being a great fan of cold weather, I sometimes miss the sunshine, hence our trips to the British coasts and Mediterranean Europe.

The above photos were taken in Cornwall. These quintessentially British things were exactly what haunted me and dragged me back here.

Willkommen in der Schweiz!

The following was written on 6 July 2004. How time flies! Four years on, I just looked back and realised how fun it was. (And why on earth did I come up with that VT name ExoticGal?)

Willkommen in der Schweiz!
I can't wait! Switzerland's beckoning.

Been there last year to the German- speaking part (Zurich, St. Gallen & Bern). And I'm head over heels in love with this mesmerising country! Even this cranky-looking Swiss cow is cute to me.

I'm so lucky I'm gonna be there again real soon, this time to a car-free place called Braunwald. From 8 to 26 July. Yay!

Only the cool breezes of the Swiss Alps can calm down my nerves now... I'm snowed under work and am knackered... I hate work, I love travel.....(feel free to nod in agreement mates)

& chances are after 26 July I'll be checking out Paris for a week & will get to listen to francais out there, with nasal voice and the distinguishing "r". So cute!!!!
Then hoping on Air France back to Vietnam before heading to Shanghai, China a week later!!! Life's too good! Hehheheheh

And now the same old stuff about my not-so-extensive travel. Again, I'm gonna update it real soon...

While I was walking with my camera, trying to find a good shot in Notting Hill, these two guys drove past, "Hey girl, take our picture!"...

See how... mischevious they look? Heheheh, they can be VT members and happen to see this pic for all I know...

Everybody loves this picture. It's a reed field uphill in suburban Taipei, capital of Taiwan, R.O China. I went there for Asian Youth Forum in November 2002.
Believe you me, the real scene is much much more fascinating...

Palaces, Pagoda etc. in Thailand close very early. We came there at 4pm, and still had to stand outside...

This is my first pic in Switzerland, coming straight from Zurich airport. That's the most tiring flight I've ever had, and I missed the flight at Charles De Gaule. I managed to smile in this photo, anyway...
