Who did tell me that there is nothing to see in Smolensk?!

Smolensk was the main destination of our traditional May trip in 2003. I was seriously surprised by this town. I did not expect it to be rather well developed tourist point.

What surprised more - very clean streets.

Parks, Towers and Monuments

Town is full of parks. It seems to be extreemly green. One park turns to another. There are a lot of monuments in parks devoted mainly to victims of Napoleon Wars (1812) and Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The cathedral was packed for a church service when we visited and there were wild strawberries for sale in the market. leyle
