Tourist Trap: Westminster
  • Tip Rating:
  • Not quite a trap, I enjoyed the Tower bridge and the surrounding River Thames area. But this is a heavily trafficked spot near Parliament and Westminster Abbey...I highly recommend visiting this area of London for the sights and for a taste of political london...Chat up some locals in the pubs here, many I spoke to worked in Parliament and were happy to discuss their political opinions with me...Tony Blair and GWBush were subjects of conversation mostly, but the royal fmily is also a very present force.

At Least Do This: Speak to the locals...Talk to the protesters...

  • Again, neither of these sites are really a tourist trap if youre interests are either history or politics, but they are heavily trafficked...

At Least Do This: Pay attention to what is going on in the moments that you are there...This part of London strongly reflects the daily climate. Newspapers, protests, and displays abound and I find heeding this information more valuable than waiting on line at Big Ben, but that is just me...
