"Where sheep go up into the sky..." Muntii Fagaras by Taffi

Quite close to the city of Sibiu you'll find this mountain range. It is not for the inexperienced hiker but a communist-era road goes straight through it: the famous "Transfagarasan".

A popular tourist spot is Lake Balea, a small picturesque mountain lake. Spectacular views over the valley and the Transfagarasan. Two chalets, a campground and the unavoidable stalls, all selling the same stuff! Can get crowded in summer because you can drive right up to it.
