The Capital

dome of Capital Building
I have been to this area of the United States 3 times in the past two years. It is an amazing city and although I am not a world traveller, I would think Washington, District of Columbia, compares to London or New York City, as far as culture, architecture, entertainment and in general, an exciting and beautiful city.

I haven't had nearly enough time to visit all the sites, especially museums in Washington. They are in the process of building a new Musceum in honour of Native American Indigenous peoples. My next visit I hope to see this and many other galleries and museums, and catch some nightlife too.

Tickets to the Senate

The Capitol of the United States crowns Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and houses the legislative branch of government, comprising the House of Representatives and the Senate.

On a very hot June day I decided to take a break and watch some of the proceedings of the Senate and House of Representatives. Here is a copy of my 'pass', including my 'foreign' pass, as a Canadian going to watch Americal politics in progress.

Standing in front of the Capital Building

On this particular day in June, I went up past the Capital gardens where they were rehearsing for July 4th celebrations, which President George W. Bush attended. "And now ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States"...it really is something to actually hear the words. I did not stay for the evening ceremonies though.
