"Northern Territory" Northern Territory by 1+1

Northern Territory Travel Guide: 2,405 reviews and 6,614 photos

Feeling the spirit of the Territory.

Wild, daring, exhilarating, adventurous.

This is the upper Roper River and I had already checked that the area was clear of crocodiles before jumping. Foolhardy isn't included in the points outlined above.

Northern Territory is synonymous with Outback, so I've done a piece on safety issues and suggestions for dealing with situations. It's mainly oriented to arid places, but much of it is still applicable to other remote areas. You can read it on the travelogue on my Australia page entitled Safety in the outback

Apart from pictures and stories on this Northern Territory page, I've got lots more under the names of towns and features. These are some of the Northern Territory places I've made pages for :

When travelling by car it's important to have the latest road conditions. This is the official Northern Territory web site :

Between November and April, this site is updated whenever road conditions change. Updates occur at 0900, 1200 and 1500 hours as a minimum, including weekends. When a cyclone is occuring updates may be more frequent.

Pros and Cons

These waterfalls are just gorgeous ! And I like the idea of wrapping grass around the tires when there is no traction :-)

Your water crossing tip is excellent, it reminds me of my husban's diatribe about people who do not know how to drive in the snow and ice! Anyone traveling to the outback should read these pages. Kat
