Feeling the spirit of the Territory.
Wild, daring, exhilarating, adventurous.
This is the upper Roper River and I had already checked that the area was clear of crocodiles before jumping. Foolhardy isn't included in the points outlined above.
Northern Territory is synonymous with Outback, so I've done a piece on safety issues and suggestions for dealing with situations. It's mainly oriented to arid places, but much of it is still applicable to other remote areas. You can read it on the travelogue on my Australia page entitled Safety in the outback

great tips Zig. I'll get there one of these days.
Wow!!! You certainly have the NT covered well here. Smiles from Sydney :)
I would love to visit northern territory and the kimberly one day, the ruggedness makes it even more enchanting :)
Great page...I appreciate signs such as the one's that you posted here. Made me go..hmmmm, lets google.~
These waterfalls are just gorgeous ! And I like the idea of wrapping grass around the tires when there is no traction :-)
Your water crossing tip is excellent, it reminds me of my husban's diatribe about people who do not know how to drive in the snow and ice! Anyone traveling to the outback should read these pages. Kat
