Main Gallery, Ubirr

Ubirr Rock Art Site

Situated in the north east of the Park near the East Alligator River this art site is a popular place to visit. There's a well made circular path way from the car park around to the art. The path is mostly on flat ground with a bit of a rocky climb to the Main Gallery. The lookout and a few more art sites are on another steep but fairly short climb.

Address: It's well sign posted, just follow the signs.

Directions: On the Oenpelli road head past the Border Store and Manbiyarra Hostel.

View from lookout over Nardab - Kakadu National Park

View from lookout over Nardab

Ubirr lookout

Although it's a bit of a climb, it's well worth the walk up to the top of the lookout. For those who are not so energetic there is a lower level lookout on the way from which you can still get a great view.

Sunset is a great time to be there, but remember to take mosquito repellant.

Address: Head for the highest point

Agile Wallaby - Kakadu National Park

Agile Wallaby

Mamukala Wetlands, Agile wallaby

Not liking the idea of being the centre of attention, this wallaby is clearing out.

The parking area at Mamukala has a picnic area plus a toilet and makes a great little stopping place if you have or want to make the time.

Paperbarks, of which there are many species in Australia, are most common in wet areas. Their flowers are sweet smelling and attract lots of insects, even Marchflies.
