Katherine Travel Guide: 72 reviews and 324 photos

Katherine is the third largest town in the Northern Territory and is situated along the Katherine River. It's the centre of a large region with a variety of tourist spots, most famous being Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge).

The visitor information centre is on the eastern side of the Stuart Highway just on the edge of the south side of the town. The bus transit station is on the other side of the highway at the BP service station.

When I get around to scanning some of my photos from the region I'll post them here. Just recently I did a 5 day walking trip through part of Nitmiluk National Park. When they've been sorted out, I'll be putting the photos up in the travelogue section.

Beautiful pix Zig. The waterfall and swimming hole ones are lovely!! Don't know if I'd be camping out there with those crocs though? :o) Cheers, Ann.

Wonderful pictures... what an amazing country you live in! Just not so sure I liked either the paper wasps or the croc! Just my silly phobias! Are palms native to Australia?

So many of the towns seem to be named after womenfolk. Maybe the tough guys who first came into this area were missing their women.
