I now live in Oberstdorf, a small village (8000 residents) nestled in amongst a breathtaking suroundind of mountains.
Oberstdorf is an extremely popular place for tourists as it is known as a "luft Kur ort" or "air cure place" directly translated. The clean mountain air is supposed to rejuvinate you, to give you vitality.
It is a culturally strong area of Germany, traditions are well maintained here and the people are extremely proud of their home, it is not uncomman that a resident has lived here all their lives, without beind overseas or even out of the state Bavaria.
An extremely picturesque area that offers, in winter, perfect ski conditions for cross country, alpine and touring. In summer, incredible landscapes, a playground for those who enjoy mountain climbing, abseiling, sky-diving or even collecting the berries and mushrooms which are in abundance. Then of course are the Biergartens......
