Yerevan, the 13th capital city of Armenia

by R-men - last update: Sep 28, 2004

Yerevan is celebrating it's 2786th birthday on October 13-16. There are lots of cultural events planned for that period.

Yerevan will celebrate 2785th anniversary of town-fortress Erebuni, which was built by Urartian king Argishti. Recently the archeologists discovered under the ruins of Erebuni another settlement which dates back to approx. 5000 B.C. That's an incredible discovery ir is the oldest archeological sitein the whole Caucasus. The initial excavations come to prove that horses were bred in this city Most probably in the next 3-4 years that site will be closed for tourists, and they will open it to tourists when the archeologial work is over.
