Phoenix Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel: Ok folks this hotel is totally out of the ordinary

  • $89 a night gets you something wild!

Ok folks this hotel is totally out of the ordinary. It’s laid out like an old 50’s motel, but all funky and cheesy in a good way. It’s in a busy area of San Francisco, but once you walk into the courtyard you here the piped in jungle noises. It also has a wacky pool (it’s always too cold in this city FYI to swim unless you totally liquored up).

The hotel has a very popular night club called BACKFLIP. It’s often frequented by the “stars”. I went there once with the band Everclear.

The rooms are decorated in a offhanded tiki sort of way. Each spacious 50's style bungalow room is decorated with handmade bamboo furnishings, tropical plants. All guestrooms have views of the courtyard and pool.

Unique Qualities: The fun and funky island- inspired Phoenix Hotel is the perfect urban hide-away. The hotel features over 250 original works of art on the grounds including paintings, photographs, and sculptures from local artists. You will receive free tattoos upon check-in and don't forget to check out our Phoenix Fun Book, a coloring book inspired by the eclectic history of the hotel.

Hotel Astoria San Francisco: Hotel Astoria San Francisco: Old Timer
  • Tip Rating:
  • It?s not so much the price but the location in San Francisco. Downtown is: Chinatown, Union Square, Financial District however the hotels are having pricing wars so you can get great deals in this area. The places in town that are hip local and the ?City? are: The Haight, Noe Valley, Maria (however I?m not that hot it, it?s a bit yuppie), The Castro if you gay. Nob Hill for the stunning prettiness of it.

Fisherman?s Warf is NOT San Francisco. We never ever go down there. It?s weird, and it?s 100% tourists and not fun. I mean you HAVE to go to Alcatraz (book at least one month in advance) but that?s it.

Here are my recommended hotels on a tight budget: (This is my new travel web site by the way)

Downtown: Hotel Astoria, cute old-time hotel looks arruond $50 a night, but check the price and hotel:

Nob Hill: Grosvonor Hotel, About $96 a night.

    CONVENIENT

Situated in the heart of San Francisco, the Hotel Astoria is surrounded with numerous fantastic shopping centers, theaters and the city's finest renowned restaurants, featuring cusines from all over the world.
