%s6This was the first trip abroad I was doing with my girlfriend, Sylvie. She is not to keen on travelling. 2 weeks in Morocco seemed to be a good first experience. I have a Moroccan friend in France and We were sent to his family In the south 10 km from the sand desert.
We didn't know his family at all and we discovered very very poor people. But as usual we had an unbelievable welcome. They would give the best parts of the meat we ate. And they hardly ever eat meat there, they were so generous and hospitable.
You have to bear in mind that it had not rained a single drop of water for 4 years when we were there.
We visited many people in the village and saw real poverty again. We shared their lives for two weeks. A life where nothing happens, the orchard being fried and dried by burning sun. Most of the afternoon consisted of a long nap and very little drinkable water was available.
Sharing people's lives, especially as it is so different culturally from yours, is definitely the most rewarding way to discover a culture and different ways of life
It was more difficult to take pictures of people there because they were reluctant and I didn't want to offend them.
Enjoy.%s*

My trip concerns the area including Marrakech /ouarzazate / Zagora / Mahamid. All east of Marrakech.

Really, really like these few pages; great intro & photos, too! Although I don't personally know (yet), I can agree that sharing a lifestyle is the best way to learn of a culture. I've *always* wanted to go to Morrocco...

What absolutely fantastic photos Fred. I always dreamed of surfing Morocco on the Atlantic Coast as a young guy, but your 'real' travelling there transcends anything I could imagine. Real travelling indeed!
