Sliced in two..

Kiev, sliced in two by the river Dnieper,is one of the oldest Slavic cities in the world. And with the unique culture, historical dimensions and natural greenery,Kiev has also become one of the Ukraine's most popular cities.
The trip to Kiev from Borispol Airport takes around half an hour and passes through thick forest on the way to the city.
The new city of Kiev, which was built on the eastern shores of the Dnieper, rose up during the 1970s.It is compose soley of the residential areas and factories. But even though the color grey may be more dominant on this side of the river,he colors on the other side of the Dnieper are enough to protect Kiev's attractiveness.
You have to pass over a bridge to actually enter into Kiev.At 2200 km in length, third largest river of Europe, after the Volga and the Danube..Thus the bridges over the Dnieper are no small structures..
According to legend..three brother and two sisters who founded Kiev.and who lived during some unknown time in the past in the mountains near Kiev. The two young brothers were named Shchec and Khoriv, their younger sister's name was Lybid and the older brother's name was Kiy.People believe that the city of Kiev took its name from Kiy...

The churchs..

The Golden-domed Saint Michael Cathedral was built in 1108,but was heavily damaged in under the anti-religion administration of the Soviet Union during the 1930s.Looking out over the city's sunny skkies from the golden domes of this cathedral, whose restoration was completed in 2000,is one of the best experiences you'll have in Kiev.
The oldest religious structure in Kiev lies right across the road from the Saint Michael Cathedral. It is the Saint Sophia Cathedral, which was built in 1037,and lies under the protection of UNESCO.This cathedral, which takes its name from the Hagia Sophia in ISTANBUL,is an important religious point for the Orthodox Christian world.

Chic and Sumptuous..

At the end of Khrescatyk Boulevard you'll come to a spot which has become very well-known in recent years..Nezalezhnosti Square. This was the square which became the center of the now in-famous Orange Revolution of a few years back. The building which wrap around the square, like the Central Post Office,Ukraine Hotel and various state conservatories, which all built during the 50s.Independence Square is allways crowded. It is a particular favorite of young Ukrainans, who like to come here and meet their friends to talk. And local administration must be aware of this, since the square is completely closed to traffic, not only on official holidays, but on weekends too...
