VALPARAISO...La joya del Pasifico..

In August of 2003,after a long wait, this city was declared on the list of WORLD HERITAGE of HUMANITY by UNESCO.This melting pot of immigrants, poets, bohemians and lovers, now shines throughout the world as a the jewel of the Pasific...
"Heap, bouquet crazy houses" Neruda said of her,who also wrote of his own house that he built here;I built it first in the air. Then I raised the banner and left it to hang from in the heavens, from a star, from the clarity and from the darkness".

Hundreds of homes...

Hundreds of homes and buildings painted in vibrant color mix with the weathered look of others dressed in simple metal siding, giving life to the nostalgic beauty of a city immersed in the passage of time.
This is the port of Valparaiso, embedded between the sea and hills, always giving a warm welcome to the mariner, the traveler and the poet..

True color of Valparaiso..

The furrowed hills with their grand passageways awake to the melodies of the organ grinder bringing cheer to the neighborhoods and the whistles of the knife-sharpener offering service to the household kitchens..

What an interesting city! I'm not familiar with the Chilean cuisine but this mussel soup looks really tempting :) It seems I'll have to learn more about Chilean music as well. But at least I can get Torro y Concha here and quite enjoy it :)

Hi Bülent, I am very pleased that you like my Berlin pages so much. With digital photography you can try out so much more than in the age of film cameras ;-) Enjoyed your Valparaíso trip. Did you read Neruda's memoirs? It is my favourite book :-) Sissi
