Marienplatz | Neues Rathaus and Glockenspiel |
My brother and I visited Munich at the very end of November 2003. We arrived on the first day of their annual Christmas Markets.
Munich had some wonderful architechture within the pedestrian zone--where many of the obligatory sights are. The Marienplatz is the heart of the area and home to the Neues Rathaus with its famous Glockenspiel.
Not too far from Marienplatz you will come across many beer halls like Hofbrauhaus--my favorite! |
| | The Hofbrauhaus Ahh yes... The famous Hofbrauhaus. We spent one week in Germany (Munich and Berlin) and we started and ended our trip at the Hofbrauhaus.
The Hofbrauhaus is a large beer hall serving their fine beer and lots of food. All this eating and drinking is done amidst the oom pah pah music being played by the lederhosen wearing band. Be sure to get a pretzel to go with your beer! |
