I visited Riga in November 2005 and arrived in the middle of a snow storm.
I found Vecriga (the Old Town) to be quite beautiful. Lots of small cobblestoned streets and alleyways. Lots of picture-worthy sights. Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, and other things to spend your time visiting.
New Riga was just as interesting to me as Vecriga. New Riga has streets and streets full of Art Nouveau buildings and should be on the "to visit" list for anyone interested in architecture.
I would love to visit Riga in the spring or summer to see how it contrasts to the vibe it gives in the winter. |
