Berliner Dom and TV Tower |
Sights AND Stuff To Do
I was in Berlin for three days at the beginning of December 2003 and again for seven days in June 2005.
Berlin is a city that is rather spread out, but everything you want to see is within reach thanks to a wonderful S and U-Bahn system. Trust me, you will spend some time on the trains and buses. The system is very easy to navigate.
Like any big city Berlin has sights that a visitor "has to see" like the Berlin Wall, The Berliner Dom, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, etc.. I recommend at least two and a half days to get to all the major attractions. Add an extra day if you are a partier and tend to sleep in.
There is a tremendous nightlife in Berlin. Just get any local newspaper or ask your hotel front desk staff for the latest hotspots. To be honest, however, I did have a hard time finding a party as I was looking on Sunday and Monday nights. There is always a bar available not too far away should you not be able to find anything bigger.
If you are a city-lover, I would highly recommend Berlin should you ever have the opportunity to visit.
