Jose Marti was one of the first Cuban revolutionaries and one of the greatest. He travelled North and South America as a newspaper editor. He was also the song-writer who penned Guantanamara.

Jose Marti's likenness appears on the front of the Cuban One Peso Bill. There is also a statue of him in New York's Central Park

Che Gueverra dropped out of an Argentinian medical school to become a socialist revolutionary in Mexico. He joined the Communist party and helped Fidel Castro overthrow the Cuban government.

Che was Fidel Castro's first President of Banking. he became Cuba's most powerful government-official but was bored by the office-work.

Che tried to export the revolution to other continents. He visited Southern Africa, Central and South America as a Communist insurgent. He was captured in a Bolivian mountain retreat and executed by an army sargeant after surrendering.

His death made him a revolutionary martyr. He is celebrated as a Cuban national hero and is a pop culture icon around the world. His face appears on the front of the Cuban Three Peso Bill.

His likeness also appears on the obverse of the Cuban 50 cent coin with the motto "Patriotism or Death"
