Our arrival in Nha Trang from Danang was very uneventful. We were met at the airport by a representative of our hotel, the Ana Mandara Resort and were quickly whisked away. On arrival at the hotel we were shown to a lovely bungalow right on the beach with a simply gorgeous view out across the sea. I knew I would like it here. As it was approaching lunchtime we were soon headed to get a drink and a snack before our guide arrived to show us the highlights of the town. Food and beverages in the hotel are a little expensive compared to outlets outside but the standard of service and the quality are both truly excellent.
After lunch we were off out to see the highlights of the town. First stop were the well preserved Cham ruins set high on a hillside above the fishing port. Well worth the time for a visit. We also visited a very pretty headland which had both me and my husband exclaiming Cornwall! And finished with a visit to see the big Buddha. Lot of steps to climb but well worth it.
That evening there was a cocktail party given by the hotel management on the beach. A good time was had by all – I doubt that they will forget me in a hurry!
At the start of day 2 I woke just before dawn and was treated to the view from our terrace of the sun rising over the ocean. One of the most fantastic sites I had ever seen. Equally as amazing was the fact that the beach was a teeming mass of people swimming and doing Tai Chi. Following breakfast we were off to the port area to get our boat to the islands for the day. We were surprised to find that the boat was for our sole use. First stop was the aquarium. An interesting piece of architecture in the shape of a galleon. The aquarium contained all the usual suspects and as a fish fan I found it quite interesting.
After a tour around the bay we went to an island with a beach for a swim. The beach was very busy with local tourists but they were pleased to see us and we made some nice new friends. The water was so warm and seemed very safe for swimming although some of the jetskiers came a little too close in there attempts to impress family and friends.
Back to the boat and off to the local fishing village for lunch. Our boat moored off shore and we were ferried to a restaurant on a very precarious looking platform. Lunch cost $7 each and was superb. We had fresh crabs, a grilled fish, soup and of course rice.
- Pros:Great place to relax
- Cons:Can get very busy
- In a nutshell:I loved it!!!!!!!
