Rome if you want to

Piazza Venezia (from picturesfree.org)
I always wanted to travel to Italy and now I'm here, finishing up my last semester of college (or, at least, that's what they tell me I'm doing - haven't been paying much attention).
Rome has so much to offer and, just like any other place, many things to avoid. But, it depends on what you're looking for...

Beer?

Nope, not really. I have a few favorite haunts where the beer on tap isn't bad or expensive, but it's generally an indifferent experience (unless you really really like heineken). Some "Irish" pubs have Guinness on tap but I haven't tried it. I would be interested to hear if it's any good.
The wine, of course, is great or usually not bad. If you just ask for "un bicchiere di vino (rosso or bianco)" they'll give you table wine, or whatever is handy. But it's bound to be good. Some bars will serve you puny glasses of wine that cost maybe 50 cents less than a beer - so it's not really worth it.
General advice (for my sake and yours) - don't come just to get plastered and be a loud obnoxious tourist. Italians (young) might drink but they don't really get drunk at all.

Sex?

We-ell, maybe...
Girls will have no problem, especially if they are blonde or just obviously American. Unfortunately, the stereotype of the drunk, promiscuous, American girl keeps getting reinforced (not by me, I swear it).
Guys - just give up on the idea of getting an Italian girl. Maybe if you're really suave and dress in Armani she will let you talk to her - but that's about it. Why do you think the Italian men like foreign girls?

Pros:"Beautiful buildings, nice people, great food/wine"
Cons:"Beer is negligible, language barrier can be difficult, drunken non-Italian students abound"
In A Nutshell:"Come to see glorious Rome; come to soak in atmosphere and wine; don't come to get drunk and laid"

Glad you enjoy! But check better on beers... there are good Irish pubs with great Guiness, that is where Italians go for that, plus Moretti or other local ones are not much worse than various Light ones...
