"Masking to Unmask"

by ccmoira - last update: Apr 16, 2003

"Bellisima!"

That's what little girls were saying to me on the streets of Venice when I went there for Carnival. I was wearing a maroon shirt, carrying a maroon and silver mask (on a stick) and had my face painted to match the motif on the mask.
Plus, I'm blonde and it seems that Italians really love blondes.
It was all very flattering :)

One of my favorite places

Sure, I was there for Carnival and only for a day or so, but Venice is definitely one of my favorite places. It was just so beautiful and different - and quiet compared to Rome!
I met some great Italians, and two wonderful Brits, and saw some of the most amazing sights.
Venice is talked about a lot, but don't let the hype dull you to the actual experience - it is definitely a "must see" for anyone planning a trip through Italy.

More to come....

I promise that I will get my pics up here as soon as possible. I took about three rolls. Three rolls! Keep in mind, I was only there for a bit less than two days.
