This is a town of oil&gas business

I visit this town quite often because of my current job. The main office of our company is situated here, in Usinsk. So what to tell you about the town.... It appeared really as a town of oil&gas business and it still is. The town is rather young just about 17 years old, that's why it looks very soviet style – very direct wide streets with lots gray blocks of flats. There are almost no wooden building in the town, all made of bricks and concrete. This is a huge industrial center of the Komi Republic with lot of oil & gas producing enterprises and service companies as well. Because of its history (created during the Soviet period) the town attracted lot of people from all over the places. This is really multi-national town. They even have a mosque there and an orthodox church as well. I would recommend visiting Usinsk for those who is interested to see how industry can change the remote northern place.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Nice town built on oil money
