Inaugurating what will hopefully become an annual tradition (at minimum!), I took off for a long November weekend with two of my best friends. Our destination ~ Quebec City, for a weekend of pure indulgence.
We had scooped a discount booking at the fairy-tale Chateau Frontenac. . .so, although our three days passed quickly, we did it all in style. :-)
We departed Toronto, heading east along the 401 ~ and our first stop was at the Big Apple. Anyone who has passed this portion of the highway will know what we refer to. . .it's actually a big apple.
I've never pulled off the highway at the Big Apple before, but that's exactly what we did. . .and we discovered hundreds of bunnies running wild on the lawns. The owners apparently spread feed for them, so it's completed manipulated, but very cute nonetheless. :-)
Not so cute ~ the tiny animal enclosure with llamas and other assorted unhappy creatures behind the Big Apple restaurant. . .
Despite being hit with one of the worst (and early!) snowstorms of the winter, we made our way through a fair amount of the old city. We walked the Plains of Abraham, the Dufferin Terrace, Rue du Petit Champlain. . .and even added some art & culture to our weekend at the Musee du Quebec.
The Chateau Frontenac is very cool ~ and getting dressed up and hitting the St. Laurent Bar is a great way to start an evening. You can, and we did, book massages through the hotel. . .another treat not soon forgotten. The Sunday buffet at the Chateau Frontenac is also an extravagance. . .don't do it early in your trip. . .you'll never recover from that much food. ;-)

We went to the Frantenac on our honeymoon 34 years ago.....so romantic. If you go in the winter you can ride a horse and sleigh around old Quebec city.
