Home to a maze of old lanes, some lovely private courtyards, great architectural details and a fantastic twice-weekly market, Sarlat deserves at least a brief stop during travels in this region.
There is plenty to see as you wander through the lanes of the well-maintained vieille ville, but we had as much fun just relaxing in the various squares with our drinks.

Those mushrooms are huge! If (when) I take my fantasy trip around France, your suggestion to avoid the high tourist season is a very good one.
Hi Stevie, Great pages! We think Aquitaine is next for us. Sarlat-la-Canéda looks fantastic. I love the roof lines. Thanx ...Tom
