. . .and the clock keeps on ticking. . .

It's been an eventful year, which has left me little time for updating pages on VT. Regardless, it's still a great place to do my own pre-travel research.

I started the year out with a road-trip adventure across Cuba, visiting my oldest and dearest friend Maryester, who is now teaching in Guatemala. While Cuba gets a lot of Canadian traffic, it is usually in the form of package tours. Chris, Alexei, Lara and I were all lucky to have a unique non-resort experience. . .very memorable.

I had a business trip to New York, which I extended a few days with my mother. We hadn't been to the "Big Onion/Big Apple" before and enjoying exploring a portion of it (as much as we could fit it!).

August saw a return-trip to Vancouver and 100 Mile House. A beautiful setting for a visit with soon-to-be-family. . .and soooo relaxing! Reading, resting, hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking. . .it was like being back at summer camp!

My mother and I made another trip together (two in one year!) to Argentina in October. We rented an apartment and based ourselves there for just under two weeks, taking our sweet time to explore all the diverse neighbourhoods. . .plus taking an overnight trip to Colonia de Sacramento, Uruguay. What a culture shock! Our mouths dropped open as cars actually came to a stop to let us cross the street. . . ;)

And here we are - almost November! I am headed to Singapore soon. . .for business. . .but am extending my stay a couple of days so that I have time to explore the city. I'm really looking forward to Little India. :)

And December (around New Year's) will bring me to the Galapagos. . .a dream come true. . .
