Roseland Ballroom: My favorite place to see a band
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: Roseland Ballroom

Roseland is a great little venue to check out bands. I've seen quite a few shows here. I like that's it's smallish, but not so small you can't move. I love getting a seat up on the upper level. It's a balcony that wraps around 3 sides of the club. Right up along the edge is a "counter" with seats to enjoy your beverage as you watch the show. The upstairs has its own bar towards the back.
Your not usually going to find really big acts playing here, though I did hear the Rolling Stones played a couple years ago.
A great place to check out whats playing would be the FREE newspaper, the Village Voice. You'll see it on Streetcorners, pick it up!

I guess I'm a bit like you Amy - I visited so often on business that I never really had time to look around properly! However, I agree with Lou - Times Square is a 'must see'! Very helpful tips here for my next 'tourist' visit!!

Amy, I really enjoyed reading your insights on New York City. Your two travelogues were just wonderful. You have several very helpful, informative, as well as interesting, tips. Thanks ever so much.

Very informative NYC page, Amy. The Big Apple has become one of my favorite places in the last couple of years. I can't wait for my next visit. : )
