T / subway: the T

  • well it rhymes with t....

Getting TO/AROUND: Parking in Boston is terrible! Better just to walk or if you'll be travelling a distance take the subway known as the "T". It is a very comprehensible system with maps posted in the stations on the trains. Cost is $1.25 or a tiny token with a T emblazoned on it. It will take you one way, including transfers.. You pay on the train by the conductor.

    Transportation: Zakim Bridge

Getting TO/AROUND: Driving North out of Boston on Rt 93 we were able to cross Boston's newest bridge, the Zakim Bridge . An interesting structure, it looks more like a sculpture than part of a roadway! Actually from this picture it looks like a wishbone....or white wire pyramids, or wire hangers.....anyway not much like a bridge. At night it's lit up with blueish purple lights, very cool!

    Amtrak Train: North Station Train
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Train
Getting TO/AROUND: For our trip out of town to Salem, we headed over to the North Station to catch the train. It was a breeze getting tickets and the monitors inside, as well as an anouncement over the loudspeaker let you know which track to go to.

Check out the website for train schedules.
