General Tips: The Beach in Autumn

Favorite Thing: Going to the beach is autumn is an entirely different experience than going during the busy summer season. The crowds have all gone home, the wide expanse of sand, once full, is now almost empty giving you plenty of space to spread out and just enjoy the scenery in relative silence, save the sounds of the crashing waves. The weather is still warm enough to sit in the sun, maybe not in a bathing suit, but comfortable in light clothing. The water is also warm enough to put your toes in, maybe the brave will go for a swim, it's just cold when you get out.
Fondest Memory: Finding an abandoned beach chair left over from someone's summer outing, plunking down and relaxing., with my toes in the sand.

candace4 Tue Jan 27, 2009 18:12 UTC I really enjoyed your NJ page. I grew up in Old Bridge, but now only visit once a year. I have never been to these off the beaten trek places. I am ready to explore next time I am in town! thanks | jo104 Thu Oct 9, 2008 09:12 UTC Hi Amy, I stayed with a friend of a friend in Jersey City & found it to be close to the city, pleasent & of course far cheaper!! | toonsarah Sun Jul 27, 2008 20:10 UTC Really helpful page Amy. We're trying to decide where to stop over between Cape May and Newark in Sept and you've given me some excellent ideas. | BillNJ Sat Mar 22, 2008 19:52 UTC Great page on New Jersey! As a fellow resident of the Garden State, I can certainly appreciate your tips and photos. I especially like the photo of the billboard advertising Tom Jones in Atlantic City. Best regards from NJ, Bill |
