Home Sweet Home

New Jersey is often labled in terribly unflattering ways. Most people don't get any further than the Turnpike or the Parkway and base their opinions on those roads alone. How unfortunate! I know you've all heard about the shore, which is definately a great part of this state, but there are also some beautiful state parks, quaint little towns full of antique shops and yes there's even farmland. Just last year I went to "Visit Alpacas" not a half an hour away from my home. There are always hidden surprises, take the Stone Livingroom in Bloomindale. Just off a hiking trail in the middle of nowhere there are these chairs made out of giant boulders! Who put them there? It's like an NJ version of stonehenge! Perfect place for watching a sunset. So forget the stereotypes you've heard and come explore NJ!

I suppose there are things you might consider a "must see" in NJ, but they might not all be listed on my page. Instead, I will give you a glimpse of MY must sees, and must dos, most of which are off the beaten path. I don't want to make a "typical" NJ page of only diners and shore points because that isn't the way I live here. Well I do go to diners...but that's just lunch! and I do go to the shore, but maybe once a summer...:) My usual excursions are up North and west( well as west as you can go before bumping into out favorite neighbor, Pennsylvania! Also all of my tips are going to be located in NEW JERSEY, no off the beaten paths telling you to go to New York or Pennsylvania. This is my New Jersey page!:) Check it out, I hope you enjoy it!
This picture was taken in Ringwood State Park, right near where I live. I love going here to hike, take pictures or just relax.

Thanks for visiting!

I really enjoyed your NJ page. I grew up in Old Bridge, but now only visit once a year. I have never been to these off the beaten trek places. I am ready to explore next time I am in town! thanks

Really helpful page Amy. We're trying to decide where to stop over between Cape May and Newark in Sept and you've given me some excellent ideas.

Great page on New Jersey! As a fellow resident of the Garden State, I can certainly appreciate your tips and photos. I especially like the photo of the billboard advertising Tom Jones in Atlantic City. Best regards from NJ, Bill
