  • The 2nd time I visited Rome, the top of the Spanish Steps were just down the block from my hotel. Not only are they beautiful but a favorite hangout for many people. (Lots of Tourists)
At the bottom of the steps are men selling flowers. Be careful of them they are very pushy and TOUCHY! You must give them a firm no and walk away otherwise they will not stop badgering you.

  • Ancient Rome's best preserved monument! the Pantheon was built as a temple to the gods. It's famous dome is as tall as it is wide. Truly a magnificent building.
We came upon the Pantheon quite by accident! Wandering through the little streets and all of the sudden things opened up and there it loomed, quite impressive! At the time (1997) there was some work being done, but fortunately we were still able to go inside. Admission was Free! It is truly beautiful. There is a circular opening in the dome called the oculus that lets in a brilliant stream of light that is otherworldly. Rain can come in through the opening, but there are drains in the floor for when this occurs.

  • The "twin" churches the Santa Maria dei Miracoli (right) and the Santa Maria in Montesanto (left) are located in the Piazza del Popolo. One is actually a bit smaller than the other. Also located here is a large Egyptian obelisk.
A big beautiful square located in the heart of Rome!

  • The Arch of Constantine is located in the great square of the Colusseum. It was the last monument to be built here in 312AD.
It was decorated with scuptures and reliefs taken from other monuments, of Trajan ,built in 98-117 AD, of Hadrian, built in 117-138 AD, and Macus Aurelius, built in 161-180 AD.

The White building in the background is Il Vittoriano, built in 1925. It's nickname is "the Wedding Cake" Not everyone in Rome is a big fan of this elaborate Building
