Tourist Trap: Stonehenge
  • Tip Rating:
  • Surprised? As much as i love history, i was not impressed with Stonehenge. There are stone circles in quite a few places in the UK. This is the most famous and the most touristed. You pay to go onto the grounds, but you can't get close enough to touch the stones. There is the inevitable visitor center as well.

At Least Do This: You can get a good photo from the side of the road and it's free.
Alternative: Go to the stone circle in Avebury, also in Wiltshire. You can wander around the stones that are in a field. There is also a little inn there where you can sit and have a drink and a meal.

Nice page! Always interesting to read a 'foreigners' perspective on your home country! Thorntons for Choc tip is definitely spot on. I never liked Nth American choc much, I just assumed it was an acquired taste, so interesting to see you say the same!
