Quebec Travel Guide: 1,534 reviews and 3,300 photos
We visited Quebec City for the first time in May of 2012. We traveled there and back from Halifax by the overnight train, thinking it would be an experience. It was that but not the way we expected. In fact, the whole week was fraught with ups and downs, possibly more downs than ups but there were enough good times to keep the trip from being a total disappointment.
But don't think this is Quebec City's fault. By no means! It's a beautiful and very historic city but circumstances beyond our control contributed to a less than great first impression. We would like to give it another try sometime when the planets are more aligned and the sun shines!
While in Quebec, we had one sunny day out of the 5 we were there. On that day we visited St. Anne de Beaupre and Montmorency Falls, a gorgeous spot on a warm and cloudless day. We at some great food, spent time with great friends and saw a few interesting things. We also both had some health issues, watched the sky get greyer and wetter, and suffered the overnight very uncomfortable train journey in a small closet sized basic sleeper cabin with bunk beds. Hard beds.

- Cons:French speaking may be a problem

Love your Quebec City page! Your restaurant reviews are excellent - couldn't agree more :o) I also really enjoyed reading your Off the beaten path tips, these two historic sites are indeed worth a visit, but they don't seem to catch people's attention with all of the other attractions around in the old city. Well done!

Diane you have some great photos of Quebec. When I was there in late fall a few years ago the falls were not all that impressive, but the leaves were magnificent. I loved Quebec, the history, the quaintness, how clean it is and the contrast of the old and new in the city.
I was quite impressed by the city though i wish the weather had been better when we were there.
