Kentville and New Minas Mall and shops: Shopping in the Valley
  • Tip Rating:
  • Name of Shop: Kentville and New Minas Mall and shops

The towns of Kentville and New Minas are the main shopping areas of the Annapolis Valley. There are a couple of malls (smaller than the ones in Halifax) and lots of great craft shops, antique stores and some lovely tea rooms and restaurants along the old Highway 1. Come off the highway 101 at Wolfville at exit 10 and turn left, following Highway 1 through Wolfville, New Minas and Kentville, stopping where you fancy exploring.

What To Buy: crafts, antiques, mall (department stores, boutiques, souvenirs)

Northern Sun Gallery and Gifts: Jewelery and Gifts in Mahone Bay
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Name of Shop: Northern Sun Gallery and Gifts

Northern Sun is located at the junction of Highway 3 where it comes into the center of Mahone Bay. There's a small parking lot behind it for their customers. They carry jewelery that's very unique and also lots of other various types of gifts, from wooden, to ceramic to pottery, prints and artwork. The staff is very accomodating and helpful and the prices are a lot more reasonable than i expected.

What To Buy: Jewelery that's very different. Wood items, pottery, paper, they even had some very unique shoes and matching handbags. They had some beautiful glass perfume bottles and some wooden jewelery boxes with art deco (Rennie MacIntosh) covers on them.

What To Pay: various prices but certainly reasonable.

Nice to come across your pg - inspirational - coming for the highland games or the festival during fall sounds very tempting! (we are 5th generation NZ scots - still very keen on anything scottish and not just what do NS men wear under their kilts!)
