2 Miles from Manchester airport, easy access to the M62, M60 and M56 motorways. Low rise hotel with 126 rooms. Large fitness center with indoor pool. Accomodations for families and kids eat free in the restaurant. It's a Holiday Inn and you get what you would expect. I've stayed at Holiday Inns at airports and they are usually very well fitted out to accomodate all types of travelers. Various rates with or without breakfast. We got a standard rate but breakfast added for two people was only an extra 4 pounds total. 2 pounds per person for a breakfast in a hotel is unheard of if you were paying for it separately. Price is average for a Holiday Inn in a major city on a weekday. There may be weekend or off season specials too. We paid 99 pounds with breakfast for a double room midweek at the end of May (which is pretty near high season) Breakfast was adequate. Buffet set out. The hot items were not that hot but good enough, also available were cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt and pastries. We had a meal in the bar as well and though the service was slow, the food was fine. Basic double room was clean though bathroom was very small.
Unique Qualities: They provide a free shuttle to and from the airport which is very convenient. Just ring from a courtesy phone in the airport. On site long term parking with Park and Fly rates. We had an unfortunate problem in the morning because the bus wasn't working properly and the private minibus the hotel hired was late but that probably isn't something that happens routinely.

Woodstock Bed and Breakfast: Accomodation in Chorlton

The Woodstock is on Wilbraham Road, and is a B&B with a variety of types of rooms. En suite is available. Comfortable, and the hosts are very friendly. Breakfast is only cold, cereal, toast, coffee and tea etc. not cooked. There is bus service along the road (we took one to the Trafford Center) and about a 10 minute walk to Barlow Moor Road where lots of busses into the city center run. A few minutes walk away is the Spread Eagle pub that does a really great sunday roast dinner. The Lloyd's Hotel is in the same area and do a nice meal as well and there's an off license a block or two from the crossroads of Barlow Moor and Wilbraham.
Unique Qualities: The lounge is decorated with stuffed animals. Literally. Taxidermied birds mainly and a few small animals with a big stag head on the wall. Friendly owners. Cheap rooms, £20 per person usually even in an en suite room.

The Ox (formerly known as the Oxnoble) is in the Castlefield district of Manchester near the Irwell and just behind Granada Studios. It's a 5 minute walk up Liverpool road to Deansgate. The Ox is a really nice pub that does very good food and has 9 en suite rooms. Across the way is the Museum of Science and Industry and it's very close to the city center of Manchester.
Unique Qualities: I haven't stayed there personally but i know people who have and they've been very satisfied and have returned several times over the years. review as a restaurant under Restaurant tips

It's a fairly new hotel and reasonably priced. It's clean and the breakfast is decent. The bar will stay open late for residents as well though there's not a good circulation so it gets pretty smoky. The problems we had with this hotel may have stemmed from inexperienced staff, i don't know. The rooms for three people had a third single (small hard) bed as a bunk bed. We were three in the room yet the staff only left towels for two most nights. They would forget to replace the toilet role and we'd have to go asking for more. The shower was a small corner unit with just a curtain that blew out all the time so we flooded it regularly. One day when we got back from our outings, the top bunk mattress was still lying across the other two beds. Another day all the old sheets were still in a pile on the floor. We deposited them on the front desk. It just seemed like one thing after another.
