El nino y La Cucaracha

El nino en Varadero
La cucaracha, la cucaracha
Ya no puede caminar
Porque no tiene, porque le falta
Marijuana que fumar.

(The cockroach, the cockroach
Now he can't go traveling
Because he doesn't have, because he lacks
Marijuana to smoke.)

El nino showed above, serenaded me with this song in Varedero, complete with music.

Casa en Havana

Viejo Havana

Old Havana,

A striking place, with rich cultural heritage, archictecture and images everywhere of Che Guevara.

This picture was taken as I walked along el calle en Havana. This is how the typical Cuban homes look in Old Havana.

El mercado

This area is one of many craft markets in Havana, here you will find craft items in wood, jewellery, art, handiwork and musical instruments made by Cubans.

I had a conversation with someone in the mercado. She mentioned to me that the Cuban government apparently takes the earnings and then pays the workers.

I was unable to validate this, but I do know that the average income per month for a Cuban is 10 USD.

If you are approached to buy cigars on the street do not do so, buy only from reputable dealers. Your hotel is a good place to start. See more on my Cuban Shopping tips.%f

I've found the best cuban cigars can be bought at the airport. I recall seen a poster of Ernesto Guevara smoking in one of the dutty free shops in Kuala Lumpur. (-; Ah!! El Che!!!
